Biography:

Before his retirement at the End of March 2019 Professor Dr. Ulrich Hegerl was Chair and Medical Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Leipzig University, Germany. To this day he is heading the European Alliance Against Depression (www.EAAD.net) and different European joint research projects. Furthermore, he is the chairman of the German Depression Foundation and a member of the Scientific Advisory Council of the German Medical Association Professor Hegerl has published more than 400 articles in peer-reviewed journals, most of them on psychosocial and neurobiological aspects of affective disorders. For the project European Alliance Against Depression he received the European Health Award(1st prize).
